Hemlock and Canadice: City of Rochester Confident of Sale to New York State

A recent City Newspaper article, Lakes land deal may be near uncovers a little bit of interesting information surrounding the possible sale.

Basically, when City of Rochester Mayor Bob Duffy released released the annual 2009-10 budget proposal two weeks ago, he included a $2-million line that counts on revenue from the sale of the property. He also wrote in his budget introduction "I anticipate that the city will sell our watershed to New York State in the coming months and ensure this land will be forever wild,".

The article also goes on to say that the city and state appraisals of the land are very close to one another, even though no official appraisal has been released by either party. It also says that if the deal falls through, due to something like the economic crisis, then the Nature Conservancy is ready to step in and help the State obtain the properties.

What I'm curious about is if people are for or against this? And why? It seems overall, that a pretty nice picture has been painted by those involved and those that like to talk. How do you think the overall process has been? Has it been conducted behind doors or open for all? How much do you think these places are worth?

And to conclude, on an early conclusion... Not to brag or anything, but I think I've done a better job at overall reporting then all of the other news organizations involved. Given that, most of the time they are the ones breaking the news... it is just that I've dug deeper, went to the roots, live it daily, and constantly reported every single small piece of news I can find or make up about these places. Yes, I know what you're thinking - "Oh my gawd, this kid has a big head!" Think what you want, all I'm really saying is that what ever happened to being a journalist? And, that I like to type a lot.
